One of the founders of Dr Foster, Tim Kelsey has announced that he's leaving the company in May and at the same time will finish in his role as Chair of the Executive Board of Dr Foster Intelligence (DFI). Tim will be joining McKinsey and Company where he will lead international work in developing health and public service information strategies.
Tom Moloney, who joined DFI from Emap plc in 2007, will continue in his role as Chief Executive of DFI. There are no plans to appoint a new Chairman of the Executive Board.
Tim Kelsey said: "Dr Foster is a fantastic business with enormous opportunities for growth. But after much deliberation, it’s time for me to change my focus and dedicate myself to promoting the strategic power of information and knowledge to improve quality and efficiency in international health and public services - this in no way conflicts with Dr Foster’s objectives. I will, of course, be around for a few months to assist with the transition."
Chief Executive Tom Moloney said "Dr Foster has become one of the most recognised brands in the healthcare sector. In the past two years Dr Foster has established a stable and sustainable platform on which to build and I’m really excited about the future. I’m convinced that the intelligent use of information, which Tim has for so long pioneered, will be more important than ever as the NHS confronts the biggest challenge in a generation. Tim has been an inspiring leader for Dr Foster, but he has also had the foresight to plan his own departure, which means that we are well set to continue the Dr Foster story."
The Chair of Dr Foster Holdings LLP and of DFI, Sir Chris Powell, said: "Tim has achieved extraordinary things with Dr Foster and, like the best entrepreneurs, he has built a management team which will continue to deliver outstanding results for shareholders. We thank Tim for all his efforts and we are happy that he remains a shareholder in Dr Foster."
The Chief Executive of The NHS Information Centre for health and social care, Tim Straughan, said: "I have enjoyed working with Tim over the past few years and in particular his enthusiasm for promoting the use of information to drive up the quality of care. I wish him well for the future."
