Dr Foster supports The NHS Graduate Training scheme

Prestigious NHS training programme will specialise in Health Informatics.

The NHS runs one of the most prestigious training programmes in the UK, certainly the most highly regarded in the public sector with over 14,000 applicants for 280 places, including – for the first time – 19 are specialising in Health Informatics. The informatics input to the programme now also includes a Health Informatics foundation module taken by all 280 trainees. University College London (UCL) provides the content for the programme, this year they invited a volunteer from Dr Foster Intelligence to help design a training exercise based around patient experience measurement and monitoring using their Patient Experience Tracker (PET) devices.

The exercise was run nine times in total, at three different venues around the country. The trainees were first invited to reflect on their own experiences as patients and identify key issues that affect patients and to come up with questions that could be used to elicit useful information about a Trust’s performance. The exercise also gave the trainees a chance to practice their skills as managers, in analysing the information provided by the Patient Experience Trackers and use it to improve quality of care.
